I Choose to Always Stay in Gratitude - by Debra McMichael

Hi, my name is Debra and I just recently turned 45 years old. I live in Wisconsin. I was born here but have done my fair share of traveling and living in other places. I have lived in Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Oregon, Illinois, as well as Wisconsin.
I was diagnosed with Turner syndrome (TS) at 18 years old when I tried to join the US Navy. They didn’t discover I had TS until 3 days prior to me leaving boot camp to go to A-School and Quam. When my TS was discovered, I was given no choice but an honorable medical discharge. Since then, I decided to live life to its fullest and never take anything for granted.
Being loved and blessed beyond measure and my faith is what keeps me going daily. I grew up fairly healthy but with age have now definitely had my fair share of medical issues and hospitalizations. I am definitely TS strong and a fighter!
I have met and shared with other TS sisters. I’m involved with meet ups and have even hosted a couple of my own. I most certainly am here for a reason, as I’ve defied death many times. I may be on disability now due to three back surgeries, but I’ve had great jobs from CNA, airport security, church secretary, to founder of a dog rescue and shelter.
In sharing my story, I would like to say always stay in gratitude, never give up, and know you can succeed in whatever you want. Most of all, you’re a fighter and you got this!! TS strong!!
