I Entered the World Happy and Healthy by Kenzie Boldt

Hello! My name is Kenzie. I’m 13 years old, and I was diagnosed with Turner syndrome (TS) when I was 3 days old. I love singing, reading, writing, and spending time with my supportive family and friends! I love musicals, and I’m a big fan of the Harry Potter series. I was diagnosed with TS at 3 days old, so it’s been a part of my life for a long time.

When I was first diagnosed with TS, my mom joined a group on Facebook where she could meet other moms who had daughters with Turner syndrome. Thanks to this Facebook group, I’ve been connected with amazing girls who can understand what I’m going through. Some of them live far away, but luckily, we can meet up every once in a while, and we have our phones to stay connected. I love being able to connect with them, and it really has become a sisterhood.

Having Turner syndrome is hard. We have to take shots every night to help us grow, and there isn’t much TS representation in the world. There’s a really good book written by a woman with Turner syndrome called “What Stars Are Made Of,” and when I read that book, it was really nice to see more representation of girls with TS. One of my goals is to spread awareness and representation for TS, and  another one of my goals is to try and encourage other families like mine.

When my mom was pregnant with me, the doctors gave her really sad news, but I entered the world happy and healthy! It would be great to give hope to expectant mothers who’ve also received a grim diagnosis. I do well academically, and I also want to be able to show other butterflies that their Turner syndrome doesn’t limit them. They can still be really successful, and they have so much to give to the world. That’s my TS story, and I hope it inspires you!
