Your Story Means More to Others than you Might Think - by Gloria Gilbert

My name is Gloria Gilbert. I am 19 and a senior in high school. I enjoy being outside and spending time with my youth group at various conferences and retreats. I am most proud of the fact that I don’t let my circumstances get in the way of enjoying life and living it to its fullest.

My mom has been my biggest encourager and supporter. She has done so much for me and by example shown me how to take responsibility for my own care. My favorite book is “What Stars are Made of.” I really related to Libby, a 13-year-old girl with Turner syndrome. In Life I was dealt a card with lots of health challenges. Due to Turner syndrome, I was born with a severe heart condition. I have chosen to take that part of my life and use it for good by sharing my story and giving others hope.

I would tell my younger self to not give up. Life is hard but you don’t have to do it alone. Your story means more to others than you think it does.
